Javier Cardoso is a partner at Apolo Abogados, specializing in legal matters related to productive sectors such as maritime, port, fishing, energy, mining, and gas.

His expertise extends to regulatory law and the structuring of projects, particularly in the fields of energy, mining, and gas, including Mergers & Acquisitions.

As a specialist in maritime and port law, he handles incidents on behalf of shipowners and P&I Clubs, including collision, salvage, and wreck removal cases. His experience also encompasses fishing law.

Javier is a professor of Contract Law at the Universidad Católica de Guayaquil, the author of Ecuador’s Fisheries Law Project, and a consultant for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), tasked with drafting its regulations.

He previously served as Ecuador’s Vice Minister of Fisheries, a board member of the Guayaquil Bar Association, and the Executive Secretary-General of the Ibero-American Maritime Law Institute (IIDM). He is also a permanent member of the Ecuadorian Maritime Law Association (ASEDMAR), the IIDM, and the founder of the Ecuadorian Fisheries Law Association (ADEPESCA).
